Alejandra and Aaron actually booked me for a wedding up in the Shenandoah Valley (at the Melrose Caverns! That one was on my bucket list), buuuut if you haven't seen the forecast up there, it's basically been monsoon season. Despite a few attempts to schedule sessions up their way, they decided to pay me a visit down at the beach for a mid-summer sunrise session. And I'm so freaking happy that they did.
Paula and Nick met in 2011 at the College of William & Mary, while at a typical college party. Sparks may have been there at their first meeting, but they didn't really get to know each other until a couple of years later. Fate brought them together during the same study abroad program in Spain, of all places, in 2013. They fell in love with Spain, and eventually they started to fall in love with each other. Nick first loved Paula's smile and sense of humor, while Paula first appreciated Nick's playful and relaxed nature. Once back in the US, and during Paula's final year of school, Nick frequently visited her in Williamsburg. They spent many sunny days swimming, reading, enjoying the view and even star gazing at this photo shoot location on the James River (off of Colonial Parkway).
This engagement shoot almost because the "little shoot that couldn't", because mother nature was definitely fighting against us. The first time that Angela was going to fly into Virginia from Texas, we had a snowstorm. The second time we had gale force winds. But these two were troopers and we decided to give it a try anyway, and I'm kind of obsessed with how amazing this shoot turned out!
